With rookie sensation Cooper Flagg leading the way on both ends of the court, the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils are winning and are regarded the best team in the country.
Flagg just delivered a great performance against the Boston College Eagles in front of several family members from his home state of Maine, making it feel like a homecoming.
With an 88-63 triumph, Duke improved to 16-2 on the season and extended their winning streak to 12 games. Flagg tallied four assists, two steals, two blocks, five rebounds, and 28 points.
Flagg was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the third time in a row after dominating against Boston College and continuing to play well throughout the week, including an especially good showing against the Miami Hurricanes.
Flagg has given the Blue Devils his all this season. Despite Duke’s talented squad, the projected first-round pick in the June NBA draft leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and minutes played.
In addition to shooting 48.8% from the field and 34.8% from three, Flagg averages 19.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks a game.
Following the victory over Boston College, Flagg expressed how much it meant to him that so many people came from Duke to support him, including his family, in what will be the season’s closest game to his hometown of Newport, Maine.
“It’s huge, the level of support, just to get to see them show up and support me means a lot to me.” “Flagg replied.” “It simply boosts my confidence.” Being from Maine, it is easy to doubt your talents or assume that you are incapable of attaining your objectives.
I just want to keep demonstrating that where you come from doesn’t matter. You can accomplish anything as long as you are devoted and persistent.
