According to coach JJ Redick, Luka Doncic is now anticipated to make his Los Angeles Lakers debut against the Utah Jazz on Monday night. Doncic’s injured left calf has prevented him from playing since Christmas.
Redick changed his prediction Thursday night before the Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors, after first speculating that Doncic may play for the team on Saturday against Indiana. “Probably more likely Monday,” Redick stated. “No commitment made on anything, but probably trending more toward Monday.”
In a historic trade with Dallas last weekend, the Lakers acquired the Slovenian superstar in exchange for Anthony Davis. Redick stated that Doncic has not encountered any obstacles in his recuperation from the calf injury.
On Wednesday, Doncic played a 5-on-5 “stay-ready” game with teammates and the Lakers’ coaching staff. “Everything is good. “Everything is good,” Redick stated. “Hopefully, we will learn that he will be playing sometime in the next days. All of us hope to see him wearing a Laker uniform.
