When looking at the big picture, Duke fans are unconcerned about their loss to Clemson.

Duke fans knew the sun would rise on Sunday morning.

On Saturday, the Blue Devils lost 77-71 against unranked Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum. The loss snapped Duke’s 13-game winning streak, which had propelled the Blue Devils to No. 2 in the rankings.

With No. 1 Auburn falling to No. 6 Florida on Saturday, a win for Duke would have put them at the top of the NCAA basketball rankings and extended their winning run to 14 games. During that winning streak, Duke defeated Auburn 84-78 as part of the SEC/ACC Men’s Challenge.

But it is still only February. When you’re in such a comfortable position as the Blue Devils, a single setback doesn’t mean anything until March.

The Blue Devils remain atop the ACC rankings, having suffered only one conference loss. They will still most likely be the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Duke fans, who understand what’s at stake and that an upset in February isn’t their Super Bowl worth storming a court for, appeared unconcerned about the upset this weekend as they looked ahead.

On Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Blue Devils will seek to start a fresh winning run against the ACC’s newcomer California Golden Bears. However, as March approaches, Duke will be unable to replicate its prior winning streak before the season concludes with only seven games played.

However, winning six in a row at the end is what matters most.
